Members of the Supaloc team will participate in a ride to raise funds for Parkinson's next month. You can show your support by donating.
As many of you may be aware, Supaloc Managing Director Kevin Weeks was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Fortunately, Kevin’s condition is relatively mild, however this disease afflicts millions worldwide and is becoming more & more prevalent. With people as young as twenty being diagnosed, Parkinson’s is no longer just an older person’s disease.
Kevin now aims to raise awareness & vital sponsorship funds for Parkinson’s disease and stem cell research, by participating in the “Pedal for Parkinson’s”.
As part of an international campaign with the USA, Germany & UK, the Australian leg is participated by a dedicated group of passionate riders taking on a 6-day bicycle ride from Apollo Bay to Victor Harbor from 22nd -27th September, raising awareness and vital funds for Parkinson’s disease and stem cell research.
This inaugural event is coordinated by Summit4Stemcell, a not-for-profit research program conducted by the Scripps Clinic for Regenerative Medicine, based in San Diego, USA. The Scripps Clinic is making incredible medical advances in the fight for Parkinson’s and many other brain diseases and disorders through stem cell research.
Five percent of the funds raised will also go to Parkinson’s SA, a wonderful group here in South Australia providing a range of support services to patients and families who are touched by Parkinson’s Disease.
Our goal is to raise $200,000 in total from the ride in South Australia. Kevin will be undertaking the ride with 18 dedicated riders, including many of his friends and family. We hope that you will be able to provide your support by donating to this cause.
There will also be a fundraising dinner held at the Donato Reception Centre on September 11th, including live entertainment, auctions and prizes. Proceeds will benefit Summit4Stemcell, with 5% going to Parkinson’s South Australia. View the full details here.
